Notice to Student and Parents
The Board of Education has passed policy and guidelines that govern how lunch charges should be handled for the 2017-2018 school year. Over the past 3 years, the District has had to transfer almost $250,000 out of educational spending to cover losses in Food Service. We must find ways to limit loss and protect educational resources. The District has changed how we purchase food and has adjusted staffing levels in an effort to address these deficits. One item that affects this loss is a clear and consistent policy of lunch charges.
The following guidelines were listed in the Student Handbooks and have been communicated to students throughout the year:
"Students may charge breakfast or lunches up to $25.00 for the year. Students will only be permitted to charge meals and may not charge a la carte items. Notices, and a Free/Reduced Lunch Application, will be sent home to students when their charges reach $10. This notice will alert parents/guardians that students will not be permitted to charge beyond $25. Once the $25 limit is reached, students will not be permitted to charge any food or drink until the balance is paid."
Please be aware that your child may be denied food if they have reached the $25 debt limit. If you have questions regarding the purchases on your child's account, please contact the Food Service Office. Detailed reports of purchases can be provided upon your request.
