The Greeneview Local School District Board of Education acted last night to employ Dr. Sabrina Woodruff as superintendent of schools, effective August 1. Dr. Woodruff, who was awarded a three-year contract, is currently the assistant superintendent and chief academic officer of the Pickerington Local School in Fairfield County. She succeeds Isaac Seevers, who recently became the new superintendent of the Lebanon City School District.

The Board of Education has been conducting a superintendent search for the past seven weeks. The Board received assistance from K-12 Business Consulting – a  superintendent search firm – and the Greene County Educational Service Center.

After the Board’s consultant developed a superintendent search profile, listing the  desired characteristics of a new superintendent, the Board reviewed the credentials of 18 external applicants, after considering three internal candidates.  Several of the external applicants were recruited and nearly all of them had experience either as a  superintendent, assistant superintendent, or central office administrator.

The Board interviewed seven candidates on May 17 and 18. Two finalists were asked by the Board to return  on May 24 for a second interview. Before the final Board interviews on May 24, a committee of 22 citizens  and district employees first had the opportunity to ask each final candidate questions during “Meet and  Greet” sessions at the district’s middle school. The Board considered the written reactions submitted by  committee participants before reaching a final decision.

“Dr. Woodruff impressed the Board immediately,” Todd Ireland, Board President said. “She has significant  experience and expertise in academics, curriculum and instruction, and she will be a great fit for the staff and  community here.”

Dr. Woodruff has held her current position at the Pickerington Local School District for the past year after  serving as the director of instructional services for the Xenia Community City School District for five years.  Between 2013 and 2015, she was the director of teaching and learning for the Northridge Local School  District in Licking County, which followed a two-year term as the elementary curriculum director of the  Teays Valley Local School District in Pickaway County.

Dr. Woodruff began her educational career in 2001 as a 7th grade language arts teacher for the Madison  Plains Local School District. Between 2002 and 2004, she taught history and language arts for the Licking  Heights Local School District, which preceded a seven-year term -- from 2004 until 2011 -- with the New  Albany Plain Local School District, first as 4th grade teacher for four years, then as a literary support  specialist for three years.

Dr. Woodruff earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and special education from Marist  University in Poughkeepsie, NY, in 2000. She then received two master’s degrees, one in educational

psychology from Marist University in 2001, and a second one in curriculum and instruction from Ashland  University in 2005. She earned her doctorate in educational leadership in 2011.

“I am excited to be working again in Greene County and I am honored to be the new superintendent of the  Greeneview Local School District,” Dr. Woodruff said. “I am impressed by the staff’s excellent reputation  here and by the community’s support of the schools.”

Dr. Woodruff will have a 10-day consulting contract to be utilized over the next three months for transition  purposes into her new position.
