GHS Update on Events and Cancellations

Due to the extension of social distancing requirements for schools, we are forced to make several disappointing announcements. School buildings in the state of Ohio are to remain closed to students until, at least, June 30th and this has implications for several rescheduled events.

GHS 2020 Prom has now been officially cancelled.  The limits of social distancing and gatherings make it impossible to have a dance.  Many alternatives have been researched, but none come close to being within the restrictions we have to follow.

It is always fun to get dressed up and have a time out.  We also understand that many students have already purchased dresses and have had them altered.  To give you a chance to show-off how good you "clean up", we are asking you to participate in a "Virtual Prom Preview".  Get dressed up, get a picture, and post to Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #GVprompreview.

The musical, Annie, has also been cancelled. We appreciate the efforts that the cast and crew put into the preparations and to have it all taken away from you the week before the performances is gut-wrenching.  With the theme of Annie, finding hope in difficult times, it would have been wonderful to see it performed.

At this time, this school closure applies to athletics and school facilities. Summer camps, open gyms, and workouts must remain closed through the month of June. Our weight room, indoor athletic facilities, practice fields, and game fields will remain closed for student use through June. The disc golf course, tennis courts, and track will remain open but we ask that you observe social distancing guidelines while using those facilities.
